Strawberry Hill Ladies match result |
Well yet another Hole in One at one of our matches, but his time it was the opposition turn to get one Orla on the 17th hole.... It was our annual match against Strawberry Hill which we all enjoy. yes the course is short and the ladies get an advantage but we get great company and an excellent meal afterwards, what more do you want from a golf match. This year we played greensomes, which is a format that we haven't played in the society for a number of years, Orla explained how it would work before the game but still one group decided that they would play a different format (no names mentioned). After much checking of scorecards BAGS came out as winners with 232 point to Strawberry Hill 216.Full results can be found on the website, |

September day meeting at Sand Martins |
Well a welcome return to Sand Martins, the course was in excellent condition which should have meant for some high scores...The morning started with 9 holes of Texas Scramble which gave everyone a chance to warm up for the 18 holes singles after lunch, by this time the wind had got up a bit which made some of the longer holes seem a long way away.Well the scores weren't as high as expected with the winner being this years captain Roger Woof who seemed to be the exception regarding a low score coming in with 38 points, in second place was Jeff Thomas on 33 points and 3rd place on count back was David Lynch with 32 points.Following the golf we had an excellent meal followed by prize giving, well done to Malcolm on an excellent day and hopefully we will back to Sand Martins again in the not to distance future.Full results can be found on the website, |

Flybe match result |
Yet another new venue for our annual match against Flybe who managed to get some of their players from the past to come along to Lilley Brook golf club in Cheltenham. This proved to be a very hilly course and add on a bit of rain and wind it made the match more of a test of stamina than anything else, but the course was in good condition and it was green, something we haven't seen for a while.Well the first day was the pairs and this was quite tight with BAGS coming out with a 4 - 2 lead, after golf it was a move to the hotel next door and an enjoyable dinner followed by plenty of drink.Day two started with a hearty breakfast then onto the singles, even thou the pace was slow BAGS again won 8 - 4 giving an overall result of BAGS 12 - Flybe 6.Well our hole in one trophy which hasn't seen the light of day for a number of years has now had its third golfers name added to it this year, with Jeff Brister holing out on the 17th hole.Full results can be found on the website, |
Army Day Meeting Report also Captains Day |
Well done to Malcolm in getting yet another new course for the society, a few members had played it before, the weather had changed from the previous weeks to be quite a bit cooler, but no rain, the course was dry but played well.We started with a new team game which tested a few members with their maths but in the end we got a result which on countback had Jeff Thomas, Surinder Kalsi and Chris Walker as the winners with 47 points. After a much appreciated lunch it was 18 holes for the President Cup, this went down to three players all coming in with same score, but the winner was Jeff Brister with 37 points, second place John de Rebello and third place Joe Tiwana.Following the golf we had an excellent meal and then prize giving by Roger who also gave a small present to all those attending.Full results can be found on the website, |

Calcot match result |
Well lets start with the positive things, we had a full team, we had a great brunch, then the start time was changed which disrupted our players (that's the excuse I heard). The course was firm to the point the cracks were larger than your hand, but the greens were excellent, firm and fast, now lets get onto the score, well we lost 6½ to 1½, which didn't dishearten the BAGS players as we all enjoyed the day and company.Full results can be found on the website, and |
RPGS Match Result |
BAGS and Richmond Police match ended in a draw on Wed, 30th July at Milford GC.Highlight of the day was a hole in one by our Vice-Capt Colin Griffiths on 15th hole.Unfortunately BAGS ended up with 2 players short on the day for different reasons, so a good effort and we retained the match trophy.Match results can be found on the website, and |

Betchworth Park Day Meeting Results |
Well it's the first day of The Open, weather warm, M25 slow so it must be our annual return to Betchworth, same faces behind the bar and in pro shop, what more do you want from a day meeting......We started with 9 holes starting on the 10th so we had the climb up to the 13 hole early in the round, the course was in excellent condition with fast greens but still some good scores coming in for the morning. After a different lunch to normal at this course it was off for 18 holes, again some really good scores being posted with eventual winners being Colin (Vice Captain) Griffiths and Stephen Collyer with 65 points, second place was Prince Chambers and Lincoln Dowe with 64 points and in third place with 63 points was David Lynch and Paul Lawrence.Following the golf and an excellent dinner (no duck) we had Roger (I can't Hear you) do the presentation of prizes.Full results can be found on the website, |

South Bucks Roll up |
Our first roll up at South Bucks following the vandalism on the course earlier in the year, the club have managed to complete all the repairs to the point that you could not notice where it had happened.Only eleven members attended but those who did had a great day, not to hot and course playing good, greens a bit slow but fairways hard and running, the results for the day can be found on the website. |
Mill Ride Day Meeting |
Back to Mill Ride after a number of years on Ascot Ladies Day which also was the hottest day of the year so far, the course was hard and greens fast but this didn't mean that scoring would be difficult as can be seen by the results. The day started with a nine hole team game which was won by Malcolm Coleman, Paul Lawrence and Lincoln Dowe, after lunch it was down to the singles event for the Bewshea trophy, this year it was won by David Lynch with 39 points, in second place with 36 points was Dave Skiggs and in third place on count back was Joe Tiwana with 34 points. After the golf was an excellent dinner and the presentation of prizes by Roger, an excellent day yet again.Full results can be found on the website, |
SAS Match |
Well the highlight of the two day match against SAS was Bruce (I never win anything) Miles with a hole in one on the 17th at Hampton Court, well done Brucie..Now back to the match, we started with a practice day at Richings Park which was in good condition but a bit wet after a down pour just as we started, on the first day we played pairs at Hampton Court, which again was a bit dry in places but played well, BAGS came out winners 5 -2, this was followed by a meal and drinks at the Three Horseshoes Laleham, where Bruce brought everyone a drink!!.Day two we played the singles at Winter Hill, BAGS coming out best again with an excellent 12 - 1 win, probably our highest winning margin in a singles match, this gave an overall result of 17 - 3 in favour of BAGS.Well done to Manjit in organising yet another great match.Full results can be found on the website, |
May medal results |
The results from the May medal held at Richings Park are now available to view on the website. |
North Hants Day Meeting |
Our first and hopefully not last visit to North Hants, unfortunately Justin Rose couldn't be there to welcome us but the staff were and gave us excellent service. After bacon rolls (very good) and coffee it was the golf, the course was excellent, greens to dream about, but stay out the heather!!, there were some excellent scores posted but the winner of the Weir trophy was Manjit Bains with 38 points, in second place Greg Lowe with 35 points and in third place this years captain Roger Woof with 34 points, the Scratch trophy was also won by Manjit with 23 points on count back.Following the golf we were served an excellent dinner followed by the presentation of prizes by Roger.Well done to Malcolm for selecting probably the best course that we have played on.Full results can be found on the website, |
Richings Park Roll Up & Medal |
With a very disappointing turnout of only 8 players we held our May roll up & medal at Riching Park, the course was in excellent condition and the weather was warm. The winner was yet again Bruce Miles, the second time in three months and he says he never wins anything!!The full results can be found on the website. |

Meon Valley day meeting |
Yet another successful two day meeting at Meon Valley, a new venue for the society, we also held the AGM which members were able to ask questions and put forward ideas for the future running of the society.
With glorious weather on both days some high scores were expected, on day one it was Dave Skiggs who managed to score 38 points whilst playing off a 8 handicap, in the evening it was a buffet dinner, which was very popular, followed by the AGM and then drinks. Day two started with an excellent breakfast, with some missing out as they didn’t listen to the announcement regarding serving times!!
With the tee times organised so that the leaders started last it meant that we did not know who would be the eventual winner, Surinder Bahra posted an excellent score of 35 points to win day two but the overall winner on countback was David Lynch who shot 34 points on both day to give a grand score of 68 points to win the Quads trophy, Dave Skiggs came second.
Well done to Malcolm for yet again organising an excellent two days.
